Gamecocks Regroup: Shane Beamer, Kendal Briles Aim for 2026 Rebound

As the South Carolina Gamecocks navigate Spring Ball & Recruiting 2026, head coach Shane Beamer faces mounting pressure in his sixth season. Following a disappointing 4-8 finish in 2025, culminating in a 28-14 loss to the Clemson Tigers, Beamer has turned to new Offensive Coordinator Kendal Briles to revamp the offense and push for a College Football Playoff berth.

The centerpiece of Briles' new system is returning starting quarterback LaNorris Sellers. Entering his redshirt junior season, Sellers is widely regarded as a Heisman candidate and a top prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft. Behind Sellers, the quarterback room features Cutter Woods, Landon Duckworth, and recent transfer Lucian Anderson III.

To ensure Sellers has the protection he needs, the Gamecocks heavily utilized the transfer portal to overhaul the offensive line. A massive addition is elite NC State transfer tackle Jacarrius Peak. The influx of new talent aims to reinforce the offense and offset portal departures like Vandrevius Jacobs and Desmond Umeozulu, as well as NFL-bound prospects like Brandon Cisse and Jalon Kilgore.

Off the field, the program has had to adapt its recruiting and fan engagement strategies. Due to major renovations at Williams-Brice Stadium, the traditional spring football game was cancelled. Instead, the Gamecocks hosted recruits and fans at the Garnet & Black Spring Fest block party and concert on April 11, setting a unique tone for the remainder of Spring Ball & Recruiting 2026.
